There are nursing scholarships available to help you complete your LPN degree.  Before you take on a federal or state loan to pay for your nursing school you need to apply to several programs for a scholarship.

LPN Scholarship Application Process:

Contact the LPN school administration office and ask for the scholarship and financial aid counselor. This person can make you aware of what programs you qualify for and the requirements to submit an application for tuition-free scholarships.

Scholarship nursing programs are generally reserved for academics (good grades) and needs based on income. Here are some of the specific areas you may qualify for aid:

  • Women
  • Single Mothers with Child
  • Minority or Ethnic Background
  • Previous Academic excellence in High School or other programs
  • Religious and Faith Based
  • Employer Affiliations
  • Athletics

Beyond nursing scholarships, be sure to consult with your college advisor as to what financial aid packages and special loans may be available to you.  There are specific Federal Grants offered to nursing candidates and like scholarships they do not have to be paid back.  A Federal nursing grant or nursing school scholarship will require you to keep good grades and exemplary attendance to qualify and keep the grant from year to year.

U.S.A. Military ROTC Nursing Scholarships:

If you are considering service in the military then you may qualify for special nursing programs too. The United States Navy, Army, Marines and Air Force all have training programs for nursing.

The ROTC nursing programs help you cover the costs of your schooling in trade for years of service in the military.

LPN and nursing scholarships and grants are offered by many schools throughout the United States. It is well worth your time to check with all schools to see what funds are available to help you achieve your nurses degree.
